During the month of January, the students in my English classes are focusing on a variety of topics.
6th and 7th Grades: We are working on writing effective descriptions through the use of many interesting activities. Students will have opportunities to practice writing through mini assignments and through the use of observation in our "Cosmic Oranges" lesson. In this lesson, students imagine themselves as space explorers who must describe a foreign object, an orange!
8th Grade: 8th grade has begun their unit on expository writing by creating simulated newspaper articles based on provided who, what, where, when, why, and how information. Students will also work together to create a class collaborative essay before writing expository essays of their own.
