Mr. Theodore Lang - 5th-8th Grade Math & Science (Send e-mail)
We would like to introduce our new Head of Math & Science, Mr. Ted Lang. Here is a short little bio in his own words!
“The oldest of 4, two brothers and one sister, I was born and grew up in the heart of Grand Rapids Michigan through 4th grade, until my family moved out into the country about a half hour outside of Grand Rapids into a small town, Parnell.
As a student growing up, I attended various Catholic Schools from Kindergarten through 8th grade. I attended high school at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School (the oldest co-ed Catholic High School in the nation) and finished up at Aquinas College, also here in Grand Rapids. At Aquinas I earned my Mathematics degree, as well as minors in Physics and Business.
I always admired the teaching profession, had interest in becoming a teacher, and had several teachers I admired throughout my schooling, but never saw it happening for myself. It wasn't until halfway through college when I decided teaching was still where my heart. It happened after tutoring Math to both middle and high school students and teaching some classes when I studied abroad in Tully Cross, Ireland. I am very passionate about Math, finding ways to see Math at work in everyday life, in technology and the natural world, and as teacher I have enjoyed sharing that passion with students and helping them find some excitement in Math for themselves.
Some of my extra interests include playing about every indoor and outdoor sport I possibly can, and also coaching in those sports. I love going to movies with friends (especially trilogies) and critiquing them. I also love breakfast food; I could eat breakfast every meal of the day and even munch on some cereal for a snack."
