Born and raised in the Pilsen neighborhood, Ms. McCartney attended St. Pius V Elementary School and Notre Dame High School. She earned her BA degree from Franciscan University in Ohio and her MA in Teaching from Dominican University. With all her years of teaching experience in Chicago Archdiocesan schools, Ms. McCartney enjoys working at St. Mary's because of the faculty, staff, parents, and children. She values the religious instruction and formation that the children receive. Ms. McCartney also loves the enthusiasm and spirit for learning that the children have.
"I have always felt that every child can learn and has many gifts to share. Drawing those gifts out of each child is one of the most enjoyable daily experiences for me in the classroom. Seeing the children grow intellectually, socially, emotionally and spiritually during the course of a year is a very moving experience."
